A survey letter was sent to households within the Kapiti Whaitua which aimed to gather information on water use, septic tanks, and property size, primarily in the rural community. A total of 897 survey responses were received. This information has been collated to help inform Greater Wellington on how predominantly rural properties utilise water and to provide a better understanding of the small, but numerous, lifestyle block owners prevalent throughout the Kapiti Whaitua.

Note: Greater Wellington undertook this work as part of information gathering leading up to the Whaitua Kāpiti process. This is only part of the information base that the Whaitua Kāpiti Committee may have drawn from and is not considered to be definitive. The Whaitua Kāpiti Implementation Programme was completed in September 2024, for more information see https://www.gw.govt.nz/environment/freshwater/protecting-the-waters-of-your-area/whaitua-kapiti/#committee
